STEPS TO SURVIVAL

It is unfortunate that the world has come to this, but at least we've found one another along the way. Be sure to download this website and all connected links, videos, and songs to ensure your Nokia 3310 is well-equipped for your adventures into dystopia.

Don't forget your solar charger to ensure both your Nokia's longevity as well as your own.

And remember to:

Try to stay calm,

& have fun!

Go n-éirí leat, Go raibh an chóir ghaoithe i gcónaí leat. Agus go dtí go gcasfar le chéile sinn arís, go laghdóidh an bháisteach go réidh do chréachta.

Signs You're in A Dystopian World

  • Propaganda is being used to control society, where the hope you place in those meant to protect you are misconstruing information for “easier consumption” by the masses

  • Information, independent thought, and freedom are restricted and heavily limited - not to be confused with negative and problematic opinions being seen for what they are, but rather opinions that stand against what is the “bigger picture”

  • A figurehead or concept is worshipped by the citizens of the society - periodically religious, political figures or olympians fall into this role, but in recent years solicalites and celebrities have stepped into this role as well

  • Common elements of dystopia become prominent when societies feel engaged in forever wars

  • Where the public becomes desensitized to social issues that 10-20 years ago would have shaken society to it’s core (ie; school shootings, suicide nets on bridges/ buildings/ office spaces, etc.)

  • Are characterized by extreme social and economic class divides, with a prominent mass poverty, vice versa those who are wealthier than countries or have generational wealth where relatives they will never meet will be more than capable of never needing to work a day in their life

  • Environmental devastation, where the damage done is irreversible within our lifetimes, or where no known solution is even on the horizon

  • Anarchy becomes more frequent and more dangerous due to citizens feeling they are damned either way and they’d rather die fighting against those who have wronged them

  • Loss of individuality, or where being unique can become dangerous for a person

  • Under constant surveillance

  • A developed or currated fear of the outside world, or those unfamiliar to themselves

  • When living in a dehumanized state where basic needs of humans are not being met and they are being held accountable for the failure of their system

  • The natural world is banished and distrusted, including where core elements of nature are bastardised to the extent they are conveyed to be the problem at hand

  • Where society is an illusion of what has been deemed a perfect utopian world and citizens are reminded of how far they’ve come to achieve such wondrous feats

  • Societal pressures to conform to what is ‘normal’ when normality like time is perceived differently to every individual it encounters

WELCOME TO DYSTOPIA

Our greatest apologies that the state of the world and society has brought you to this site, however, Welcome to the Steps to Survival. Here we've curated a series of well-tested means to survive the impending apocalypse and navigate the dystopian world that has followed.

The focus of this site is to provide you with resources to ensure you are fed, drinking clean water, and able to converse with other survivors that do not result in additional unwarranted death. If you are familiar with Maslows Hierachy of Needs (Image 1), you may be wondering why this site is not covering all core needs. The simple answer is time is of the essence for us all. If we can show you how to ensure water is clean or safe to drink, you will live longer than a week. If we give you the knowledge on how to feed yourself you will be able feed yourself for more than one meal.

But most important of all if we can help you learn these skills your life will have a value that goes beyond yourself and stretches to those around you. Others may house the skills of ensuring shelter, warmth, or the security needed that will allow you to sleep safely at night regardless of the state of dystopia that has engulfed us all.

If you are unsure if you are in a state of dystopia ask yourself these questions:

Do books like Fahrenheit 451 (Ray Bradbury), Handmaid's Tale (Margaret Atwood), Oryx and Crake - Before the Flood - MaddAddam (Margaret Atwood), 1984 (George Orwell), Animal Farm (George Orwell) ring a little too close to home?

Do you fear knowledge is being monopolized and kept away from those who are not financially secure? Or do you wonder why obtaining a proper education is so difficult to so many people?

Are you confused by how we have nations where food waste runs rapid, while famine engulfs others?

Or how in 2022 alone over 8.2 million people have died from hunger whereas Canada alone disposes of 2.3 million tonnes of food waste annually?

Do you worry about being able to afford rent, groceries or bills because inflation continues to climb on all products - while the minimum wage has barely budged close enough to be considered a living wage?

But most important of all - can you remember the last time those who run the country in which you live, heard the fears of it's people and implemented a change to better everyone equally? - And if you can, was it in response to riots/ violence or a global pandemic?

If you answered yes to any of the questions above,

Please do your best to keep in good spirits regardless of how bad things get, any additional chaos to the current situation will only result in a surplus of issues wider than the range of solutions offered within this website. â€‹
